Born in the Netherlands on October 26, 1992, Michael van der Mark competes in motorcycle road races. He drives a BMW M1000RR in the Superbike World Championship. He was the champion of the European Superstock 600 in 2012. Along with Takumi Takahashi and Leon Haslam, he won the Suzuka 8 Hours in 2013 and 2014 while competing in the Endurance FIM World Championship on a Honda CBR1000RRW. He and PATA Honda won the 2014 Supersport World Championship.
Michael van der Mark continued to ride with the Pata Honda team when he moved up to the Superbike class in 2015. He debuted in the 2017 Sepang Grand Prix motorcycle racing class, taking Jonas Folger's seat in the Tech 3 satellite Yamaha squad due to illness. He won his third Suzuka 8 Hours that year, sharing the victory with Alex Lowes and Katsuyuki Nakasuga riding a Yamaha YZF-R1.
